The first few days of the season are spent getting acquainted with how to rig the boats, tying sailing knots, and learning the rules of the road and basic seamanship.
It’s our responsibility to keep the condos presentable and in good condition. All families are required to lend a hand cleaning and maintaining the condos.
The skippers’ party is a chance for the kids to have some fun and get to know each other away from the boats.
The summer jamboree is a day where we forget about racing and just have fun, on the beach and on the water.
Mission Bay - San Diego
Once per year, we load the Sabots and Skiffs onto a trailer and head down to Mission Bay, San Diego, for a weekend of sailboat racing, food, fun, and bumper cars.
Sea Shell skippers will have the opportunity to sail on boats other than our usual sailing dinghies. The vessels vary from year to year, but we have had Hobie Cats, J/24, J/105, Harbor 20, etc.
This is the last event of the season with everyone dressed up and ready to enjoy happy hour, dinner, and the sharing of stories.
Wine Tasting & Yacht Tours
Hundreds of people gather on the docks at Santa Barbara Harbor for our only fundraising event of the year, which features tasting of local wines and tours of selected yachts.
To conclude the season, we have a fun day of sailing and water games, complete with “sea monsters” trying to capsize the sailing dinghies.
